Flautoforte
Flautoforte is an innovative project initiated by Polish flautist Łukasz Długosz, involving the commissioning, first performance , recording and distributing of Polish contemporary flute literature.
Recordings of contemporary flute music are a rarity in Poland. With the exception of radio recordings, a few CDs featuring the most remarkable composers or else amateur recordings from the Internet, these compositions are not documented and distributed professionally.
For some years now, Łukasz Długosz has been the initiator of commissions from many Polish composers, developed in cooperation with many institutions and festivals. Following more than a decade of active artistic output, almost 60 new compositions are the result – for the flute and two flutes, from chamber music to solo pieces, written by almost 40 different composers. Many of these pieces came about through the programme “Zamówienia kompozytorskie” (Composing Commissions) initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage, delivered by the Institute of Music and Dance.
All these compositions have been performed in public, while some of them have been recorded by Polish Radio and various record labels. The majority of these works, however, have not been professionally documented and promoted. Project Flautoforte fills this gap and allows flutists in Poland and around the world to discover new musical literature.
Recordings of these compositions have been published freely online, enhanced with interviews with composers, lectures by musicians and pieces from rehearsals. Wherever possible, the scores of the recorded compositions will be published online alongside the recordings.
I await your comments, questions and requests. Flautoforte is a new project, which is open to new suggestions. We can go about creating it together!
